This session, with Ultranauts CEO Rajesh Anandan, takes a deep dive into the lessons learned over almost a decade of experience and experimentation in reimagining performance management, including how to level the playing field for training and development, identify and mitigate bias in performance reviews, and eliminate the potential for favouritism in promotion decisions.

Traditional performance review processes are rife with bias. Promotions even more so. While better tools, including bias detection software, can help nudge human participants in these processes to be less subjective, they don’t resolve the bias inherent in the process itself.

Employee trust is near all time lows, and unwanted turnover is near all time highs. Ensuring fairer, more transparent performance management systems can help stem the tide.

This session will explore:

  • Why current approaches to diversity, equity and inclusion are failing
  • How software tools can help reduce bias, and where they fall short
  • How to reimagine performance management, including levelling the playing field for training and development, identifying and mitigating bias in performance reviews, and eliminating the potential for favouritism in promotion decisions.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand the pitfalls of traditional performance management systems, as well as traditional approaches to achieving equity in the workplace
  • Learn about analytical techniques for detecting bias in performance reviews
  • Learn about a community-driven approach to making promotion decisions, which removes the need for performance reviews.
