Jobs and Skills Australia and its Contribution to Workforce Planning

Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) released its landmark "Towards a National Jobs and Skills Roadmap" report in October 2023, identifying Australia's current, future and emerging skills and workforce needs. This presentation will talk about the role of JSA and what it sees as the opportunities for collaboration to improve workforce and skills outcomes.

Jobs and Skills Australia was established by the Australian Government in 2022 to provide independent advice on Australia's present and future skills needs. JSA's vision is for the full skills potential of our nation to be realised, resulting in improved workforce participation, productivity, wages and equity. As a source of information on Australia's overall labour market and skills system, JSA can help workforce planners situate their own strategies and initiatives in a national context.

This session will explore:

  • The role of Jobs and Skills Australia and our current work programme
  • The outlook for the Australian labour market and skills system
  • JSA's tools, frameworks, and data that you can use in your workforce planning activities.

Learning outcomes:
