Thursday, June 22, 2023, 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM

NASA’s workforce model is designed to promote agility in its civil service workforce while identifying and sustaining needed capabilities to meet mission requirements now and into the future. In addition, scenario planning efforts are under development to address and mitigate issues related to inherent uncertainty in this workforce demand. Learn how to gain a better understanding of workforce requirements in a dynamic work environment, and strategically manage uncertainty with scenario planning.

NASA is a mission-driven organization. The effective and efficient deployment of the workforce is critical to position NASA for success now and in the future. NASA manages its numerous, complex missions in a full cost environment where mission programs fund required civil service labor. This budget environment promotes agility over traditional position-based structures in government. NASA workforce demand, including size and composition, reflects resources best suited to meet mission programmatic requirements within assigned budget levels.

This session will explore:

  • Overview of the NASA workforce and budget environment
  • The drivers of workforce demand
  • Managing uncertainty while maintaining capability.
